Feeder Insects

You must always keep in mind that Praying Mantises are carnivores. For those who like the dainty mantis, their food source is far from enticing. Unfortunately, though, you cannot have a praying mantis without also caring for their food (it is easier to care for crickets and flys than catch your own).

Some people think they can get around seeing their mantises capture a feeder insect, but this is impossible. One time or another, you will see your praying mantis catch a bug, whether you like it or not. Before keeping a Praying Mantis, first be sure that you will also be able to care for their food without feeling too squeamish.
